Ercoupe Services – CFI’s & A&P’s “Ercoupe CFI’s” in CA
Ercoupe CFI's in
NorCal; We have had some suggestions regarding CFI's for Ercoupers here in SoCal. For those who are interested here's the information, and any additional leads for 'Ercoupe' CFI's anywhere in CA (Northern & Central especially!) are very much appreciated d.hall@cox,net ; * Larry Conley offered this recommendation; I highly recommend Walter Wasowski, CFII based at Rialto, L67. He's very good and is quite reasonable. He also works at Hawthorne airport. He indicated that he could be available at Hawthorne, during weekday lunch time and he's available at Rialto on the weekends. His # is 909-829-8029. Larry C. 1947 415-CD N3452H. Email wjw0201@hotmail.com , thanks, Larry C. * Kent Pramhus offered this recommendation; Jim Byrd is a CFI at CableAir at KCCB. He has owned an Ercoupe himself and has been doing instruction from Tom Eckert – Tom is the fellow who purchased Fred Wilson’s Ercoupe earlier this year. 909-982-1579 is the telephone number.

I
divide my time between Nut Tree Airport (VCB) and Yolo County Airport (DWA), and
have an off-airport paint booth where I can paint dismantled aircraft and parts,
and am proficient with fabric.
Linda Abrams shares this; A Cessna 150 pilot out at PSP named Fred Lowerre. He wrote,
"There's an A/I I know at Yucca Valley airport that has restored a couple of
Ercoupes so if you need any technical help he's a good guy to know. He's working
on his third restoration as I write this....... name is Bob Miehle

Here's some of the

Dolim; NorCal Ercoupe A&P/IA; To everyone on the Ercoupe list from CA or nearby, I found a great mechanic to work on your Ercoupe. His name is Paul David, at David's Aviation in Calveras County Airport (KCPU). I had a hell of a time finding someone who knew the plane and had the time and the resources to do my annual. Paul was a delight. He was enthused, knowledgeable and through. As some of you know, my plane has some minor modifications to suit my disability and Paul used common sense to address these added issues. We are all always looking for good 'Coupe resources and KCPU is located pretty centrally. Give him a call, you be pleased. I know I was... Kim Blackseth, N2332H

For those of you
concerned about header tank repairs, here's some good information;
I spoke with John
Wright Jr. who also firmly agreed this is the way to go. Unfortunately, his
source for reconditioned/new 5 gallon tanks is no longer in
business. Fortunately for the Ercoupe community, an FAA service station, Gunder
Restoration and Design, has decided to tool up so that he will be able to
restore 5 gallon tanks to a like new condition. As he is investing lots of time
and effort for us (he'll be losing big bucks on my tank), please consider him
for future needs. It's great that he wants to join and support our community of
vintage aircraft owners in the way of John Cooper, John Wright Jr. and many
others who I don't know of. His number is 717-246-1200. Please forgive me if
this sounds like an advertisement. I just think this is an important issue to
keeping our machines flying and people like Craig Gunder are hard to find.

Ladies and
Gentlemen, These are living documents. If you have additional information or corrections, please feel free to send them to me. I can’t always read all the documents posted on the Coupe lists. If you see a good item posted and you don’t see it show up on the maintenance pages, please bring it to my attention. As always in mutual support publications, it can’t work without your input. Please pay attention to your maintenance issues and write up a description and information if you can. Experts, please try to write up complete and coherent descriptions on how to do particular items of Coupe maintenance. Ninety percent of “Coupe mechanics” are not experienced at maintaining Coupes. They grope around, doing their best. But, as shown by the nose gear article submitted by Lynn, when a knowledgeable person gives good information, that can really be a great resource to each of us when we hand a printout page to a mechanic for them to use as the starter in their prep to do the maintenance. Also, on my main Coupe page, I’ve added a Glossary entry. So far, it only has one entry but I bet we can build on that over time, with your contributions.
